For a number of years prior to 2004 I felt that there was a need for an indoor archery range. It would allow existing archers as well as newcomers to this wonderful sport to play archery in a safe environment, without being exposed to harmful UV rays, bad weather conditions and limited daylight hours and having access to professional facilities seven days per week. So here it goes..... Located at 73 Grange Road, Cheltenham AIM ARCHERY CLUB was first registered and incorporated in August 2004. The criteria was to find a suitable central metropolitan location with an existing vacant building to create an indoor archery range. After many months of searching and meeting the necessary requirements I finally decided on our present location in Cheltenham. Having already designed the club logo and colour scheme long before, the real job commenced in April 2005 by building a club room, work shop, kitchen, toilets, pro shop and last not least the shooting hall including target butts. With 500 sqm of actual hall space it allowed for an up to 30 metre shooting distance which suits beginners and hard core archers alike. |
